Our trip to London

We started the trip at the 15th of March when we went into the bus at 9 o’clock p.m.. We were a big group from four different classes. Everyone was excited to see London so lots of us can’t sleep well because we drove at night. The trip had gone for five days from 15th of March till 20th of March 2026.

So it was a hard night, we had driven through three different countries before we arrived in Great Britain. These countries were the Netherlands, France and Belgium. Before we went into the train for cars, buses and more, we had to show our passports to the controlling people. Then we went into the train and drove through the so called “Eurotunnel”.

Our first stop before London was a day trip to Canterbury. We arrived there at 10 o’clock a.m.. It is a very small town, so we had too much time there. Thus it was boring after two hours. But we went to McDonalds, it was nice. After Canterbury we drove to the meeting point and met our host families for the first time. It was very nice because our family was so kind and friendly. They had a big car and we were surprised as we saw their house, it was also really big.

The next day we were in London. It was so nice because London is a big and beautiful city. It wasn’t boring. I ate my first Corndog and I liked it. We also went into the London Dungeon it was not as scary as I hoped but it was okay. I think it would be better for me if they talked in German. Maybe I have to go to the Hamburg Dungeon :). The evening at our family was great because we talked a lot.

The next day we went at first to Beachy Head and walked for about two hours at the coast. Then we went to Brighton where I ate the best fish & chips I ever had. Then I went to a mall where I went to a football fanshop of Brighton. There I bought a little souvenir. This evening we played a game with our host family called “Rummycub”. And I was the winner! This was the last evening at the host family so we watched a movie together.

Next morning we had to say goodbye to our host family. It was a little emotional moment. The last day we went to London again. We visited Camden Market and used the Tube (the underground). We also went to the London Eye and had a beautiful view. At this evening we went back to the bus and drove back to Leipzig. This was also a hard night but I’m happy to be back here.

We arrived in Leipzig at 10 o’clock a.m., I think. There we saw our real family. But this whole day I wanted to sleep. It was a nice trip but maybe a little bit too short, because London is so big. So thanks for this experience.

Greetings, Arvid Kühn, class 9d.
